Winston is known as an organizer and communicator in Idaho. He grew up on a progressive farm in south central Idaho that included fresh potato packing operations and a transportation division. Winston organized the Idaho Ag Development Corp and Magic Valley Energy Coalition and raised in excess of $100,000 for the organizations, both of which focused on renewable fuel projects and issues. He helped lobby for and obtain the first Intermodal Commerce Authority in Idaho and later helped craft and lobby for a way for Idaho counties to use the Intermodal Authority to provide mutual benefit for private industry, local and state government.
Winston is a principal and managing partner in Asset Management Advisors, a firm dedicated to project development and acquisition of businesses positioned in good markets with margin and growth potential. He has also served as director of Tax Express LLC, which provides retail tax preparation throughout the Northwest.
In 2006, Winston served as Congressman Otter’s gubernatorial campaign chairman and spokesman for Cassia and Minidoka Counties in southern Idaho. He earned an A.A in Economics at the College of Southern Idaho, studied political science at Idaho State University and earned his B.A and M.A. in Organizational Management from Ashford University. Winston was asked in 2007 to serve on Governor Otter’s Renewable Energy Council.
